Elizabeth + Karrie on the Job!

bride-and-bloom-ek2

It seems that the paper world is always busy with photoshoots and wedding details! Here is a quick picture of the two of us in action!

We can’t wait to see what our next big project is! 🙂

Kate + Greggory

We have noticed that lots of brides are loving navy blue these days! Kate was no exception. Her beautifuland clean color palate made her invitations very elegant and crisp. She chose navy blue and white, but added some “pop” with both stocks being shimmery…and the beautiful use of ornamentation around the monogram and other text on the invitation. We especially loved designing the “animals” on the RSVP card -guests get to choose what they eat…literally! =) Kate was the sweetest client…and we wish her all the best in her upcoming wedding to her sweet groom, Greggory!

Introducing our first Stationery Line! Sweet + Saucy Shop

We are so excited to announce the opening of Sweet and Saucy Shop in Long Beach, California! Owned and operated by head pastry chef (and our dear friend), Melody Brandon…the opening of this shop is so exciting…not to mention *tasty*! If you haven’t had a chance to sample one of these
succulent treats, make sure to stop by and taste her sugar cookies (K’s favorite) or her peanut butter cupcakes (E’s favorite…although,i really cannot wait to taste the “cake ball lollipops”!). =)

And we are so excited that Melody asked *us* to debut some of our stationery in her shop! We have designed a cute little line of cards (think: thank you sets, birthday cards + every day notes), and my personal favorite – the cupcake picks! The cutest thing for people to pick up when they purchase a cupcake as a gift…a sweet little pick that has a fun note for the recipient.

Best of luck to you, Melody! We know you are going to be a huge success….and we thank you for allowing us to be a part of it. =)

Vaneesha + Logan Save the Date!

img_8077
img_8081This couple could *not* be any cuter! We are so lucky that Vaneesha found us on Style Me Pretty (stylemepretty.com).
She noticed Karrie + Brian’s silhouette invitations, and wanted us to design something very similar for her upcoming wedding in December. She and her fiancee live in Chicago…and the only sad part about that is we will never get to meet face to face! We have already loved working with this cute couple…and are excited to share their save the date announcement. The parisian – style vintage postcard is perfect for them, since they got engaged in romantic Paris. She loved the green of Karrie + Brian’s suite…so we used that, and made it really pop with the rest of the text in black. Can’t wait to design the rest of the pieces for this adorable couple…and their amazingly beautiful wedding! Stay tuned
for another feature on Vaneesha + Logan…and the rest of their stationery suite – including a brand new (and darling!) program design…

A fun Photo Shoot…with Journey of the Lens: Stay Tuned for more to come!

Karrie had the wonderful idea of doing a fun photo shoot of us…doing what we do…to put on our website and some of our promotional pieces. At first, we really struggled with *HOW* to accurately portray what we do…it’s really not very glamorous! Would we shoot at the printers? Paper stores? Assembling with our tape guns and crystals? We turned to Julie Dentt, of Journey of the Lens (www.journeyofthelens.com) for inspiration! We were absolutely blown away by the concept she came up with and the photos she produced. She designed an amazing vintage “office”/desk scene (set up in downtown San Diego, in various outdoor locations). Karrie + I had so much fun “typing”, “talking on the phone”, “designing invitations”…and laughing…A LOT. We are so excited to show you all of the photos…along with our NEW LOGO…(*love* it!) and to introduce everyone to
Julie and her incredible photography. Here is one photo, just to give you an idea of the wonderful time we had…and Julie’s talent.
Stay tuned for lots more to come!

Nautical Meets Vintage

This is just a *sneak peek* of one of our most favorite clients (and paper suites) to date! The cute couple (Lauren + Daniel) are getting married in Coronado on August 8. The
feel of their wedding is very nautical, yet vintage. Their custom monogram is one of our most favorite that we have ever designed. We LOVE the custom font!

The colors (navy + white) are so crisp and clean…very natural and elegant. The invitations were printed on a very heavy stock (and mounted on an equally thick stock),

making them very substantial and gorgeous. Again, this is just a sneak peek. Stay tuned – their programs *are* our favorite to date!

We are excited for you, Lauren + Daniel…

A SeaSide Celebration

This re-commitment ceremony was an amazing event that we were thrilled to be a part of. The bride and groom renewed their vows on June 6 at the gorgeous L’Auberge Resort in Del Mar. The beautiful boxed invitation was a gated style with blush colored double faced
satin ribbon, complete with a real sand dollar to close the gate fold. The bride wanted a very “natural” feel to the wedding, so we incorporated burlap at the bottom of the box to cushion the invitation. We did all of the fun suite pieces for the wedding, including the sand dollar napkin rings (tied with the same double faced satin blush ribbon that we used on the invitations), “fan” style itineraries that sat on each guest’s seat, table numbers, favor bottles, “late night snack” take out boxes and placecards – tied through real shells. One of our favorite pieces for this celebration was the custom guestbook – we incorporated the blush ribbon, burlap, raffia & real shells used in all of the other pieces to put together a fresh, fun and natural book for the photobooth pictures. Laura Rizzo of Weddings by Design coordinated this event, and photography was done by Paul Barnett.

A Photoshoot in Paradise

We have had the honor of participating in several magazine photo shoots lately! They havebeen so much fun to be a part of, and we have *loved* creating all of the different paper pieces for the various table scapes. We can’t give away too much information, since the magazines will be coming out in the fall…however, we wanted to give you a “sneak peek”! This “Hawaiian Paradise” tablescape was so much fun for us to design. We created an adorable tropical pattern for the bands on the placecards and menus, and then sent our artwork to the very talented Melody Brandon of Sweet and Saucy. She took our design and replicated it to be the bandon the mini cakes that she designed! This is one of our very favorite aspects of designing within the wedding industry. When we create something (monogram/pattern/hand drawn artwork, etc.) it can be used in so many different ways to really tie the entire event together. Watching Melodywith her mini cakes, and seeing the entire tablescape come to life was so exciting for us! Thanks to Melody for all of her amazing design and creativity! Watch for this tablescape coming out in the fall…more details to come!

Lisa+ Derren… a wedding worth reading about.

Lisa + Derren
May 2, 2009
Point Loma Nazarene University
San Diego, California

Lisa and Derren were the cutest couple! Lisa came to us several months before her wedding with the most adorable idea for her invitations:
she wanted a “family tree” theme. Both her parents and Derren’s parents had been married for 20+ years, and they wanted to honor that amazing commitment and heritage, while also celebrating the new union being formed between the two of them. We designed a literal “family tree” invitation – with custom silhouettes of the bride and groom, as well as the two sets of parents. The silhouettes were nestled in the branches of the tree. In keeping with the “silhouette” theme, we also designed an adorable envelope flap – a little girl and boy on a bicycle. This helped to tie in the outside/whimsical/picnic feel of their wedding. The fact that they actually got married underneath a large beautiful tree on the Point Loma Nazarene University campus made everything come together perfectly. Ashlyn and Heather of Carter +Cook Event Company did a great job of coordinating this adorable celebration. All photography is courtesy of Micah Dahlberg Photography.
We love you, Lisa + Derren!

Pigeons: the *new* lovebirds

Lauren and Joel were married at the Darlington House this past Friday, June 12th. They had a very crisp yet elegant color scheme of navy and white…and their theme was “pigeons”. As we got in to the design, we knew it would be one
of our favorite (and most unique!) invitation sets to date. We learned a new fun fact: “that pigeons mate for life…”
so how appropriate (and adorable) to have pigeons as the theme of a wedding. The amazing Ashlyn Carter
and Heather Cook (of Carter and Cook Event Company) did a wonderful job of bringing all of the details together!

We designed a vintage inspired pattern to be carried through each piece of the invitation. We used cute symbols
for each card (“pigeons” – of course – for the main invitation and envelope, a cake for the rsvp card and a compass
for the directions card). The invitations were navy and pearl…with a tiny “pop” of red on each card.

This couple is one of the reasons we *love* being custom designers. Where else can you find an adorable (yet
elegant) wedding invitation that features pigeons? =)
